WILSON INSPECTION BY NASDC, SDAAD, AAID, AND KCAA
The Kenya Association of Air Operators (KAAO) participated in the National Assembly Departmental Committee on Transport and Infrastructure inspection visit to Wilson Airport alongside key aviation stakeholders, including the State Department of Aviation and Aerospace Development(SDAAD), Kenya Civil Aviation Authority, Kenya Airports Authority, and the Aircraft Accident Investigation Department (AAID).
The engagement provided an opportunity to discuss the status of ongoing infrastructure development projects, aviation safety and security matters, airport land safeguarding, and the broader challenges affecting operations at Wilson Airport.
As part of the discussions, KAAO highlighted the strategic and economic importance of Wilson Airport, which remains a critical pillar of Kenya’s aviation ecosystem, supporting tourism, business connectivity, emergency services, and regional air transport. The Association also raised concerns regarding delays in the ongoing runway rehabilitation project, the resulting operational and financial impacts on air operators, the need for strengthened protection of Obstacle Limitation Surfaces (OLS), and the importance of long-term infrastructure planning to support future growth.
The association appreciates the Committee’s engagement with industry stakeholders and remains committed to advocating for practical, sustainable solutions that enhance safety, operational efficiency, and the competitiveness of Kenya’s aviation sector.
