KYC: Aero Club of East Africa Edition
This time, our Know Your Customer (KYC) visit took us to a place where Kenya’s aviation story runs deep — and where KAAO calls home.
Established in 1927, the Aero Club of East Africa has been part of Kenya’s aviation journey for nearly a century and is preparing to celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2027. Its history is closely intertwined with Wilson Airport, where the aviation community has grown around the Club over generations.
Today, Wilson Airport remains one of the region’s most important general aviation hubs and, according to IATA, is recognised as the busiest general aviation airport in Sub-Saharan Africa.
During our KYC visit, the KAAO team had the opportunity to engage with the Aero Club team, learn more about their priorities and challenges, and discuss how the Association can continue to support their work.
The engagement also provided an opportunity to strengthen collaboration and reaffirm KAAO’s commitment to championing the interests of general aviation and supporting the continued growth of Kenya’s aviation sector.
As KAAO continues its member engagements, visits like this remain important in deepening our understanding of the diverse operations, experiences and priorities that make up Kenya’s aviation industry.
