Wildlife Hazard Management Sensitisation Meeting

Wildlife Hazard Management Sensitisation Meeting

KAAO hosted a Wildlife Hazard Management (WHM) sensitization meeting bringing together representatives from air operators, Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) Nairobi City County Government, Bomas Of Kenya Limited, Kenya Wildlife Service KWS, Ulinzi Sports Complex and Uhuru Gardens National Monument & Museum.

The meeting focused on aviation safety concerns relating to wildlife hazards, particularly the increasing risk of bird strikes around flight paths near Wilson Airport. Discussions emphasized the importance of improved waste management and environmental control measures, as unmanaged waste continues to attract birds and wildlife, posing safety risks to aircraft operations. Stakeholders further underscored the need for continued inter-agency collaboration and sustained mitigation measures to enhance aviation safety around the aerodrome.
