42nd ICAO Assembly
The 42nd ICAO Assembly in Montréal is gracefully nearing its conclusion, marking two weeks of profound deliberations and high-level diplomacy that have defined the course of international aviation for the years ahead. This triennial Assembly has been nothing short of historic, convening all 193 International Civil Aviation Organization Member States, together with international and regional bodies, to reflect, negotiate, and reaffirm a shared vision for a safe, secure, sustainable, and innovative global air transport system.
From the plenary floor to bilateral engagements, the Assembly has underscored the magnitude of collaboration required to address both enduring and emerging challenges. Themes of aviation safety and security, environmental responsibility, technological innovation, and regulatory harmonization have dominated the agenda, reminding the global community that aviation is not only a connector of nations but a cornerstone of economic growth and human progress.
In the course of these high-level proceedings, the Kenya Association of Air Operators (KAAO) has had the opportunity to engage with and draw insight from distinguished leaders and representatives, among them:

Dr. Sameh Elhefny, Minister for Civil Aviation, Egypt 4. Amb. Amb. Carolyne Daudi, Kenya’s High Commissioner to Canada and Permanent Representative to ICAO. 5. Col. (Rtd.) Rogers Mbithi, Board Member, Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) 6. Emile Arao, Director General, Kenya Civil Aviation Authority ( KCAA) 6. Mr. Nicholas Bodo, Director of Air Transport, State Department for Aviation 7. Mr. Peter Bombay, Chair, European Union Safety Committee
KAAO is formally represented at this Assembly by our Board Vice-Chairman, Mr. Jimmy Kibati, together with our Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Liz Aluvanze, who is attending in her capacity as a Board Member of the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA).
As discussions continue in Montréal, KAAO remains steadfast in its mission to be the unified voice of Kenya’s operators, carrying forward the priorities of our members and ensuring that Kenya’s aviation sector is both represented and influential on the global stage.
