KAAO was proud to participate in the 2nd Annual Spencer West Kenya and JW Seagon & Company. Seminar, themed “Emerging Challenges in Aviation Finance, Leasing and Insurance – An East African Perspective.”
Representing the Kenya Association of Air Operators (KAAO), our CEO, Liz Aluvanze, joined an esteemed panel comprising Haanee Khan, Founding Partner – Corporate, Commercial & Aviation, Spencer West Kenya; Simon Toms, Executive Director, WTW; Robert Marete, Director, NCBA Group; and Capt. Gilbert M Kibe, Managing Director, Air Transport Consulting Ltd. The discussion was expertly moderated by David J. Nolan, Chief Commercial Officer at JW Seagon & Company.
The panel examined the opportunities and challenges shaping the future of aviation in East Africa, including access to aviation finance, the African Development Bank’s US$7 billion Integrated Aviation Transformation Programme, the implementation of the Cape Town Convention in Kenya, aircraft leasing, insurance and the country’s evolving regulatory framework following the publication of 29 revised Civil Aviation Regulations by the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA).These conversations are critical to strengthening investor confidence, enhancing the competitiveness of our aviation sector, and positioning Kenya as a leading aviation hub in Africa.
We were also delighted to see strong participation from our members, including @KASAS ltd TwinStar Aviation, Kenya Airways, Z.Boskovic Air Charters Ltd, and Safarilink Aviation, whose presence and contributions reaffirm the importance of industry collaboration in addressing the opportunities and challenges facing the sector.
