On 25th June 2024, the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) convened the second Tripartite Industry Affairs Meeting of the year at the Argyle Grand Hotel, bringing together the leadership teams of KCAA, the Kenya Association of Air Operators (KAAO), and the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA).
This important platform allowed for direct engagement and collaboration on critical issues affecting the aviation industry. KAAO, representing the collective interests of its members, seized the opportunity to actively advocate for industry concerns and propose practical solutions.
Key matters addressed during the meeting included:
- Land encroachment at airports
- Infrastructure development of airports and airstrips
- Masterplan development for Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) and Wilson Airport (WAP)
- Implementation of a service charter
- Congestion at airports
- Wildlife hazard management
- State of airfields
- KCAA rule-making process
- Kenya Civil Aviation Regulations (KCARS) 2024
- Automation of KCAA services
- High-rise buildings around aerodromes
- Licensing of crew (ATPL, PPL, CPL, Flight Dispatchers)
KAAO remains steadfast in its commitment to following up with both KCAA and KAA to ensure that industry matters are addressed promptly and effectively. Through continued collaboration, we aim to foster a safe, efficient, and sustainable aviation sector for Kenya.
